After waiting for so long, the music gods seem to have heard us as Falana just released her first single in four years, “Ride Or Die”.
It’s no doubt that Falana is one of the most underrated singers in Nigeria. However, it would’ve been nice to have gotten an EP at the very least in the past four years. As one of the women taking over the alté music genre, her voice and style are unique. However, the last time she released any music was her 2014 EP, Things Fall Together. Nevertheless, she didn’t totally disappear from the entertainment scene as she performed in several concerts and made cameos in movies like Isoken.
Thankfully, she just released the stunning visuals for her new single “Ride Or Die”, her first project in years. On the groovy track, she sings about standing beside her lover through thick and thin, in this cold world. The Daniel Obasi-directed video is as whimsical as we expect of any alté video of this generation, almost reminiscent of Solange Knowles in “Cranes In the Sky“
While she is the centre of the video, there is no specific theme except that she’s serving stunning lewks throughout. She carries the carefree vibe of someone who is pleased with their love life. “Ride Or Die” is for those of us who like being in love but hate ballads. We’ll definitely be jamming to this bop all year while we patiently wait for her next project.
